HTC Flyer Tablet Specifications
HTC Flyer is 7-inch screen Tablet features a 1024 x 600 resolution, Android 2.4 with HTC’s Sense UI. Also included is 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera, 32GB of internal storage and a 4,000 mAh battery.

HTC Flyer Tablet Price:
There is no telling how much the HTC Flyer will run when it hits store shelves but I’m going to go out on a limb and assume that if it’s priced at $686 it may not be the best selling device on the market. We’ll have to wait and see.

Nationite MIDnite, cheap Android 2.2 tablet

The Nationite MIDnite Android tablet has a few things that distinguish it from the competition like the Android 2.2 version and the speedier 800mHz Cortex A8 CPU (the same technology used in iPad’s A4 chip). Price is still low, at USD $199 and you do get a pretty solid tablet with an estimated battery life of 5-6 hours with WiFi On.

Nationite MIDnite Android tablet Specifications:

  • ARM A8 Cortex processor clocking in at 800mHz (overclocked) and complimented with 256mb DDR RAM.
  • Built in WiFi for wireless internet connectivity.
  • Android 2.2 operating system - one of the best mobile device operating systems.
  • Large 7" Touch Screen with 800x480 resolution screen
  • Large removable battery that allows for 5-6hrs with WiFi on and 7 - 10hrs with WiFi off on a full charge.
  • Multiple language support
  • Load custom ROM or make your own custom ROM, we strongly encourage developers to play and modify the android OS.
  • Built in bluetooth
  • Built in GPS

From the review you can see that the 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 CPU does a great job of making the tablet feel speedy. Now, for the bad part, even if the list of supported video formats is quite large (MKV (H.264 HP)/RMVB/MPEG-4/FLV/MPEG-1/MPEG-2 up to 720p) the Nationite MIDnite has no HDMI output port, for playback on a large flat screen TV, but that’s not really a problem, as you can output videos from another device easily these days.

Creative Ziio 7-inch and 10-inch tablets

Creative Ziio 7-inch and 10-inch tablets built to make the most of your music collection; they could prove strong competition to Archos

The key to Creative's ZiiO 7inch and l0inch devices, which will ship with Android 2.1 with the promise of an upgrade to 2.2 "early in 2011", is that they play to the company's strengths. The Pure Android audio app is nicely put together, with a Bluetooth device manager directly within for linking to external speakers.

For even greater control head to Creative's X-Fi Crystalizer and Expand enhancements. Its apt-X codec allows for high-quality audio streaming, and it works: when Creative demoed the device to us, we discovered that the sound streamed to some tiny ZiiSound T6 5.1 speakers packed a punch. As did the poor souls working within 100 yards of our demo room. The 7in device's TFT screen has a 800 x 480 resolution, increasing to 1,024 x 600 on the l0in device, and both were reasonably bright. The big sticking point will inevitably be the resistive technology. Yes, we'd prefer capacitive; yes, we'd prefer multitouch; but it isn't a disaster. That said, tasks that require a lot of swiping and dragging may soon start to grate, and the fixed buttons at the foot of the screen were also a little unresponsive.

The hardware doesn't have the solid feel of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, but neither of the ZiiOs feels cheap. There's a front-facing camera and accelerometer, plus a card slot to expand the capacity for big music and video collections - SD on the l0in and microSD on the 7in. There's no 3G, and the ZiiO doesn't support the official Android Market. Creative wants you to head to the ZiiStore. Suffice to say, our hopes aren't high.

If s good to see Creative attempting to transfer what it knows best - sound quality - to tablets. But what really appeals about the ZiiO range is its price. The 7in model costs only £200 inc VAT for 8GB and £220 for 16GB. The l0in ZiiO is barely dearer, at £250 and £270 for 8GB and 16GB respectively. Archos could have a serious rival on its hands.
